About Me:Leon, a jazz guitarist and vocalist debuts his new CD, My Soul Speaks. No stranger to the guitar, at age 5 his grandfather gave him his first guitar and since then the instrument has played an important role in his life. In the late 70's and early 90's Leon lead his own band and performed with artists such as Little Jimmy Scott and Donald Harris and has provided music for the Lou Rawls Telethon. He has opened for Blue Magic at the Ritz Theatre in New Jersey. But made a personal decision to put his music on ice and keep it private until an unfortunate loss kindled his spirit. 13 years later he shares the music that has kept him grounded as he dedicate his new CD to the memory of his mother, the core of his being, who died from cancer. My Soul Speaks is a platform for Leon to express his ideas, his thoughts and his philosophy of life as he invites his audience to go with him to a place where peace, love and lightness of spirit dwells and speaks to the true character of the artist.
Music:My songs are inspired by a deeper calling. It is a pathway to a place that only through self realization can anyone understand. This does not mean that everything and everyone around us does not exist. I have come to realize that self realization comes from understanding others. Most people see themselves as man or woman, me and you, black and white etc… and most of us are forced into this way of thinking. However, we are neither of these. We are neither man nor woman, black or white. We are spirit and we are life. What we see is only there so we can see each other. Physical existence is for learning, spiritual existence is forever. So my inspiration at one point in my life came from others. Now it comes from within.
I am very happy to have this opportunity to get
to meet you and look forward to getting to know you. I love what I do and
who I am. As a musician I have touched the hearts of many people and as a martial arts instructor and health and fitness
professional I have changed the life of many people. There is no greater gift
than what we have all be given - the gift of change. Thank you sharing
this moment.
